In 2026 I will undertake a series of short expeditions to fulfill my ambition to paddle between each station I served in during my police career. This journey will take me some time as I do not have several weeks in a block to dedicate to it. However that is not the challenge for me. Instead my hope is to enjoy the trips, seek benign conditions and discover the coastline and wildlife that I never explored during my time in that area. And, of course, to recall the stories of my career while I document the journey.
I will be looking for people to join me for the legs they would enjoy. Expeditions will be a maximum of three days long and the outlined journey plan here is a guide only. I will use advanced guides where the routes are most challenging and I have yet to decide what sea kayak I will use for the journey.
To navigate my map just click on the markers or the coloured routes. There isn’t too much content there yet but I will aim to add pictures and text as and when the trips take place.
If you fancy a few legs get in touch. If you’d like to sponsor me for my charity Blue Space Highland also get in touch.
The Mission
- To reflect on a land-based career journey from the water, considering how the new perspective impacts on my memories of the policing challenges I faced.
- To connect people, paddle, and place—exploring the waterways with humility, care, and environmental awareness.
- To document and share short kayaking expeditions that celebrate wilderness, self-propelled travel, and human curiosity.
- To promote Greenland paddling as an efficient approach to expedition kayaking, showcasing traditional paddling techniques.
- To promote the business and economy of recreational paddling in Scotland.
- To develop personal paddling skills.
